About Katrine Vogt

My philosophy

Everyone's body has a story to tell: a history of all the things that have happened to it. This story helps me get a picture of how your body is functioning. Using sensitive palpation techniques I can feel where your body is experiencing strain and discomfort. Through treatment, your body can free itself from old injuries to restore health, reduce pain and help you live life to the full.

History and affiliations

Katrine graduated from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000. Since then she has worked in Edinburgh, Dundee, St Andrews, Pitscottie and Cupar. She established her own practice, Eden Osteopaths, in 2005. She has undertaken extensive training in cranial osteopathy with the Sutherland Cranial College and received her Fellowship in 2014. She is a member of the General Osteopathic Council, the Institute of Osteopathy, the Scottish Osteopathic Society, the Scottish Cranial Group and the Sutherland Cranial College of Osteopathy. She undertook training in medical acupuncture in 2016 and is a member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society.

Treatments

Katrine uses a range of techniques during treatment, drawing on her many years of experience and extensive post graduate training. Each treatment is tailored to the patient's needs at any particular time. Katrine is interested in uncovering and treating the underlying causes of problems, especially those that are recurring or chronic, to find a long term solution. She is also keen for patients to feel they have control over their treatments and recovery so they can take ownership of their health. Being keen on exercise herself, Katrine encourages her patients to get more active and help to strengthen and condition their bodies to reduce further pain and disability.

Specialities

Katrine enjoys treating children from new-borns to teenagers. She has undertaken postgraduate training in treating babies especially those suffering from the stress and trauma of labour. Children respond extremely well to osteopathic treatment. Their potential for healing and general vitality means they require short treatments and generally only one or two sessions. Symptoms and conditions that are appropriate for osteopathic treatment include digestive problems, injuries, growing pains and tension.

Katrine treats many women during and after pregnancy. This is a testing time for the body. Extra stress is put on the spine and pelvis as well as the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles. Osteopathy can help relieve some of the symptoms women suffer during pregnancy and make this an exciting and enjoyable time. Sometimes after the birth it can be overwhelming to cope with a new born, other children and life in general. Osteopathy can help your body to deal with these extra demands, by easing tired muscles and strained ligaments as your body adjusts after pregnancy.
